(KRON) -- The Stanford Department of Public Safety is investigating a suspicious incident after a man confronted a female bicyclist in Palo Alto Tuesday morning.

The woman told SDPS she was riding along Pasteur Drive at 11 a.m. when the suspect “ran towards her while yelling. The male grabbed the front tire of her bike, causing her to stop. During the brief interaction, she saw something shiny around his waistband and was concerned it might be a weapon.”

The woman said she immediately called Stanford Medicine Security to report the incident, but the suspect left the area before security arrived. The suspect is believed to have boarded a bus.

The suspect is described by officials as a Black male, approximately 60 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was reportedly last seen wearing a blue sweater and black Nike shoes and carrying a clear bag.

Officials said the same person “has caused multiple disturbances on the Stanford campus and Stanford Hospital grounds in recent weeks. As a result of his behavior, he has been banned from the Stanford campus.”

Anyone who encounters the suspect is asked by officials to call 911 or the nonemergency line at 650-329-2413.
